Diagnosis

11-12 pectoral fin rays on ocular side, 10 on blind side. Preserved specimens uniformly brownish on ocular side, yellowish-white on blind side; fins paler than body (dorsal and anal fins with regular series of dark blotches); pectoral fin on ocular side with dark bars; caudal fin with scattered indistinct dark blotches (Ref. 10878). Exhibits sexual dimorphism, mature males with greater interorbital width compared to females and the upper one or two pectoral fin rays on the ocular side are extended and filamentous (Ref. 10878).
