Differs from its sympatric species Garra arupi in having the following characters: perforated lateral line scales 40-42 (vs. 35-36); vent to anal distance 50.0-52.9% (vs. 52.6-60.0) pelvic to anal distance; predorsal scales 13-14 (vs. 11-12); circumpeduncular scales 12 (vs. 16); transverse scales between anal fin origin and lateral line 2½ (vs. 3½); absence of a distinct submarginal band on the dorsal fin (vs. presence); absence of a transverse band of tubercles on the snout tip (vs. presence); and absence of 7-8 thin stripes on the caudal peduncle (vs. presence) (Ref. 81034).
