Diagnosis

Diagnosis: mouth inferior or subinferior; lips weakly or moderately developed; two pairs of well-developed barbels, posterior pair 0.7-1.5x eye diameter; lower jaw not reaching to anterior margin of eye; 24-28 scales in lateral line; dorsal fin with concave border, last simple ray measuring 91-114% of HL; known from the Mungo, Menge and Blackwater in Cameroon (Ref. 81639).

Description: medium-sized species; scales longitudinally striated; scale formula: 4.5-5.5/24-26(28)/4.5/2/12; D: III-IV, 8-9; lateral line complete.

Coloration: preserved specimens have a yellow-brown body; scales on flanks with basal brown trait; there may be irregular smudges on body and fins; fry sometimes have dark spot at caudal base (Ref. 81639).
