Comments: | Introduced into continental Malaysia in 1943, N. Borneo (Sabah) in 1951 and Sarawak in 1960. Widespread in small water bodies and tin mining pools. Growth of fish is stunted and rarely cultured now. Considered invasive, their numbers growing rapidly and often displacing native species particularly in rivers and lakes (Ref. 84801).
