Comments: | Introduction of two strains of Hungarian common carp (mirror and scale) to Vietnam in 1969 and 1975 respectively cause significant changes in hybridization program of common carp and selection program of common carp in Vietnam. Hybrid generation F1 (Vietnamese carp X Hungarian carp) performed fast growing in pond culture, this is very desirable hybrid common carp fetching good income for fish farmers. The selected common carp line (6th generation) from selection program of common carp (initial materials consist of Hungarian carp, Vietnamese carp and Indonesian carp) shown fast growth, high disease resistance and stable genetic characteristics. It will be the best common carp line cultured in Vietnam. Ref: FAO, 1997 |
