Type locality of Pomacentrus magniseptus, Queensland, Great Barrier Reef (where is it common on coral reefs), northern corner of Escape Reef. Known southward to the Capricorn Goup (23°30’ S) and north to at least Raine Island (11°36’ S) (Ref. 114927).
