Known from a limited area north of laguna dos Patos, namely, the lower rio Maquiné, lower rio Três Forquilhas, lagoa dos Quadros, lagoa do Palmital and lagoa Emboaba, State of Rio Grande do Sul; also found in the rio Tubarão drainage, ribeirão São Luis in the rio Itajai-Açu drainage and from rio Itapocu drainage in the State of Santa Catarina (Ref. 57632).
