Occurs in Peninsular Thailand, Chao Phraya and Mekong river systems (Ref. 26336). Also Menam Nan; Maeklong River; Thale Sap, Phathalung; Tapi river, Bandon (Ref. 1632), Chieng Sen (Ref. 33021); also from Nonthaburi, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Ratchaburi, Chiang Rai, Nong Khai, Surat Thani and Songkhla (Ref. 37773). It may have disappeared from the Chao Phraya (Ref. 12369). Threatened due to habitat loss and overfishing (Ref. 58784). Also Ref. 2686, 7050, 9648, 36654, 26580, 43281, 45563.

Status of threat: Endangered (Ref. 58784).
