Type locality, Lingayen Gulf,. West coast of Luzon, USNM 70268 (holotype of Antennarius subteres, 4.2 cm SL). Also collected from Bataan, west of Talaga and photographed from Dauin and Dumaguete, Negros Island. In Dauin, Negros I., dark colored individuals were found most commonly on coarse sand or gravel, often within patches of green algae, in 4-20 meters while the lighter and more colorful individuals are usually found associated with small, similarly colored sponges, at somewhat greater depths, at 12-30 m (Ref. 48635, 116699). |
