Found only in the upper Cumberland River drainages in Kentucky and Tennessee (Ref. 86798). Collected from Poor Fork Creek (Cumberland River), Letcher County, Kentucky (Ref. 41482). Generally uncommon and declining; many populations have been eliminated due to coal-mine pollution (Ref. 5723). Also Ref. 10294.
