Occurs in the Arctic basin (Europe, Asia and North America) and Pacific Ocean basin (Asia and North America (Ref. 117245). Known from the drainages of the Northwest Territories and Yukon Territory (Ref. 5723), south to Alberta; a native fishery is existing (Ref. 52559); Beaufort Sea, where it occurs during its marine phase (between Point Barrow, Alaska and Anderson River, Canada); Yukon River, Mackenzie River Basin (Mackenzie River, Artillery Lake, and Great Slave Lake, and its tributaries Hay and Slave rivers), and Anderson River (Ref. 89241).
