Comments

Recorded from Sta. Ana, Cagayan to Puerto Princesa, Palawan, although the population from Cagayan seems to be slightly different from the rest of the populations in the Philippines alluding to a cryptic diversity (Ref. 114996). Larval stages of this species are included in the 'dulong' catch from study areas in Calatagan, Tingloy, and Bauan in Batangas (Ref. 107093). Second most abundant sardine occurring in the Philippines (Ref. 114997). Museum: fish market in Taytay, FRLM 12125 (Ref. 10558). Also Ref. 188, 3259, 12744.
