A specimen was caught in June 21, 2010 five nautical miles SW off Island Bisevo (middle Adriatic Sea) (Ref. 88211). This species which is native to the Mediterranean has probably moved to the Adriatic by staying close to floating objects. Its presence may also be linked to the phenomenon of 'Adriatic ingressions' - a periodic inflow of more saline, nutrient rich and warmer Mediterranean waters, specifically Ionian waters (Ref. 88211). A second record was documented with a male specimen caught from Mali Ston bay, southern Adriatic Sea (Ref. 96695).
