Occurs in the Maeklong, Chao Phraya, Mekong, Peninsular and Southeast Thailand river systems (Ref. 26336); also from Bangkok, Petchaburi, Kanchanaburi, Kalasin, Khon Kaen, Surat Thani, Chanthaburi, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Ubon Ratchathani, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Phitsanulok, Phrae, Narathiwat and Surat Thani (Ref. 37773). Widely distributed and an important element in the food supply of the people living along the large rivers (Ref. 4832). Also Ref. 9648, 26580, 36654, 43281, 57235.
