Known only from the Central Catchment Nature Reserve. Inhabits shaded forest streams where it occurs in midwater and feeds on aquatic invertebrates. Threatened due to habitat destruction. Large individuals can be eaten. Conservation measures include continued habitat protection in the Central Catchment Nature Reserve and prevention of unauthorized collection (Ref. 85309).

Status of threat: endangered (Ref. 85350).
