Known from the upper Tennessee River drainage from South Fork Holston River in Virginia to Little Tennessee River in Georgia; extreme upper Savannah River drainage in North Carolina, South Caroline and Georgia (Ref. 86798). Museum: Elk River (tributary of Watauga River), Carter County, Tennessee, Michigan Museum of Zoology No. 179151 (holotype, 8.8 cm SL, female); UMMZ 157418 (paratypes).
