Found in the Iberian Peninsula (Ref. 119049). Occurs in the Guadalquivir River basin (Ref. 26100). Type locality: Río Jándula, Lugar Nuevo. Threatened due to the introductions of exotic predators (Ref. 79582). Extirpated from most of its range due to pollution and water regulation (Ref. 59043). Also Ref. 6376, 32724.

Status of threat: critically endangered (Ref. 59043 119049).
