Type locality, Nan Kywe Chaung about 200 m S of Sha Dau village, about 18 km on road Myitkyina-Mogaung, Irrawaddy R. drainage, Myitkyina Distr., Kachin State. The small stream, Nan Kywe Chaung, is up to 30 m wide but not very deep, about 1 m in the low water season; water colorless and clear, current moderate, surroundings consisted with secondary forest and pasture, the bank with grasses; with long-leafed submerged plants (Cryptocoryne) growing in clumps whose bottom consisted of sand and pebbles. In Indawgyi Lake, the species is found in water with abundant vegetation and along the shore. Also abundant in the lower part and mouth of the tributary Nant Yen Khan Chaung where there are some current. Known only from near Myitkyina and from Indawgyi Lake (Ref. 46238).
