Occurs in northern Honshu and Hokkaido. Accidentally stocked (translocated) in Lake Towada in the early 1980s. The fishes in the population in Lake Towada are reportedly significantly larger in body length than those from other populations (Ref. 52984). Also Ref. 434, 2850, 6885, 12114, 12115, 27436, 37812.
