At Ang Giang and Dong Thap Provinces, larvae occur every year in June-July during their downstream drift from spawning site somewhere upstream in Cambodia. They are fished in specialized larvae dai nets just south of the Cambodian-Viet Namese border and are used as stocking materials in the cage culture industry. Fish larvae of 2 cm are reported in May-July. Generally, fish from the Mekong Delta are below 50 cm, dominated by fish below 30 cm (Ref. 37770). Also Ref. 49196.

Assessed as Critically Endangered in August 11, 2010, with 0-49 mature individuals, with extent of occurrence at 100-120 km², and an ongoing decline in quality of habitat. From May to July, this species migrates downstream from the Khone Falls apparently to flooplains in the Mekong delta. Juveniles around 2 cm appear from June to November at the Mekong delta (Ref. 37770). 
Nemacheilidae Yunnanilus cruciatus (Rendahl, 1944) Fr native   3.42 cm SL male/unsexed  Known from a small coastal stream at Thua Luu about 55 km south of Hue and from all rivers which drains to the Vietnamese coast and enters the sea between 14°30' and 18°00 N (Ref. 40772). Found in the coastal streams of Annam (Ref. 12041). Also Ref. 33690, 26580.
