Etymology: Eviota: No etymology given, suggested by Christopher Scharpt: from Latin 'eu' for 'true' and 'iota' for anything very small, in combination 'truly very small' referring to it as being the smallest vertebrate at the time it has benn described by Jenkins (thus, making the suggestion by Scharpt plausible.;  angustifascia: Name from Latin /angustus', meaning narrow and 'fascia' for band, referring to the narrow, white, vertical lines; noun in apposition..

Short description Morfologia | Morfometria

Spine dorsali (totale): 7; Raggi dorsali molli (totale): 9; Spine anali 1; Raggi anali molli: 8. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following characters: all cephalic sensory-canal pores absent; dorsal/anal fin-ray formula 9/8; unbranched pectoral-fin rays 13-14; with fifth pelvic-fin ray and 10-17% of fourth ray; body crossed by 5 narrow, white, vertical lines separating wider dark bars and with the dark bar under posterior half of second dorsal fin wider than orbit diameter (Ref. 123827).

Collected from deep crevices on steep outer-reef slopes or walls exposed to current and clear oceanic waters; 4 of the 5 specimens were collected from depths of 50 m or greater. It is probably more widespread in the region in similar habitats (Ref. 123827).
