เงี่ยงครีบหลัง (รวม): 20 - 22; ก้านครีบอ่อนที่หาง (รวม): 50-55; เงี่ยงครีบก้น 3; ก้านครีบอ่อนที่ก้น: 49 - 51; สัตว์มีกระดูกสันหลัง: 72 - 74. Belongs to the Macrognathus aculeatus species group but can be distinguished from all other species of this group by the following combination of characters: 8-10 rostral tooth plates; 20-22 dorsal-fin spines; and ocelli along dorsal fin developed as small irregularly arranged dark spots or absent (Ref. 83418).
