Các vây lưng mềm (tổng cộng): 11-13; Tia mềm vây hậu môn: 24 - 27. Can be easily distinguished from all other species of Adrianichthyidae by the combination of the following characters: jaws subequal, 24-27 anal fin rays, eye conspicuously smaller than snout, about 75-85 scales in lateral row, 11-13 branched dorsal rays (Ref. 26747).
Eggs are attached to the body, between the pelvic fins (Ref. 31267).
