Short description

Espinas dorsales (total): 15 - 16; Radios blandos dorsales (total): 7-8; Espinas anales 3; Radios blandos anales: 6 - 7. The color pattern, seven dark red lines, and a characteristic arc at the connection between the postorbital stripe and the midlateral band distinguish this new species from all other known members of the genus Apistogramma. Lateral line 11-17/6-10.
In typical black water river with loamy banks (Ref. 48504).
