Morphologie | Morphométrie
Deep body (body depth 11-13% TL versus 6-10) possessing very thin pale bands (less than 1/5 the width of the dark bands) with sharp (high contrast) margins. Bands are sinuous on the anterior half of the body, and extend clearly to the dorsal midline (Ref. 41292).
Facultative air-breathing in the genus (Ref. 126274); Oviparous (Ref. 205). Males provide parental care in nests excavated for larvae (Ref. 55570).

Parental care is provided by the male. Nests consisted of a group of small juveniles under a dense roots of floating macrophytes which are attended by a single male adult (Ref. 55570).
