Rückenflossenstacheln (insgesamt): 7; Rückenflossenweichstrahlen (insgesamt): 10; Afterflossenstacheln 1; Afterflossenweichstrahlen: 9; Wirbelzahl: 26. Characterized by the following: five diagonal black bands on head and body, first from chin, through the eye, to dorsal part behind eye; posterior part of pelvic fin black; round and transparent first dorsal fin; scales on anterior part of body embedded (Ref. 13361).

Biologie     Fachlexikon (Englisch) (z.B. epibenthic)

Found on slopes of clear and fine sand (usually at about 30 m depth). Lives in symbiotic association with alphaeid shrimps, usually with Alpheus randalli and rarely with A. bellulus. Sometimes found in pairs.
