背棘 (總數): 12 - 21; 背的軟條 (總數): 6-9; 臀棘 0; 臀鰭軟條: 23 - 27. Snout long, tubular. Lower jaw projecting forward beyond upper one. No barbel on lower jaw. A short barbel is present on the posterior end of the upper jaw. Branchial membranes free from isthmus.
