Africa: Liberia to Ghana (Gold Coast). Also known from the Ouémé River in Benin.

背棘 (總數): 0; 背的軟條 (總數): 27-34; 臀棘 0; 臀鰭軟條: 23 - 29. Dorsal fin origin on same level as anal fin.
背鰭起點高度與臀鰭相同。

Affinities: M. meronai. Relatively close to M. furcidens which is found in the same geographic setting in Côte d'Ivoire. A fractional spawner (Ref. 10605; 10606).
