Two distinct spines on epiotic, upper spine slightly posterior to lower; upper tip of opercle level with center of eye, bearing a spine-like projection much smaller than epiotic spines; exposed part of urohyal large, with 5 obscure spines on upper half; posterior basipterygial process smoothly curved, ventral margin covered by hard serrated tissue; cleithrum almost straight, a single spine near pectoral fin base; 5 small gill rakers on lower limb of first arch; air bladder absent; right eye shifted shifted slightly anterodorsad; first pterygiophore with first and second dorsal fin rays; filamentous process of second neural spine extending between 10th and 11th pterygiophores; anterior and posterior part of pterygiophores cartilaginous; terminal half of centrum and hypural 3+4 autogenous; hypural, epural and parhypural not completely ossified; neural and haemal spines of second and third centra cartilagenous; neural and haemal spines of second preural centrum not supporting caudal fin rays.
