At 2.0 mm TL, head is round and large, fins fully formed, and a pigmented double-notched eye is present. The larva is suspended at this stage in a spherical, integumentary envelope which is attached to its body in three points: the mouth, the anus, and at the base of the fins, with each fin projecting through it (Ref. 240). At 9.0 mm TL, the envelope has completely fused with the epidermis of the larva (Ref. 240). At this stage, it is effectively considered a juvenile. |
