Comments: Spawning occurs after migration. Spawning takes place in running water over a gravel bottom. Fecundity is in the order of 40,000 eggs of 1 mm size per female. The larvae are blind and acquire functional eyes before migrating to see at the age of 3 to 5 years (Ref. 30578). Spawning starts at 9 deg. C (Ref. 59043).
