Additional Characters Fertilised eggs are deposited in a depression in the gravel made by the female. Eggs only get enough oxygen when in gravel. Hatching of the eggs is temperature dependent, varying from 21 weeks at 2°C to 4 weeks at 12°C. Also Ref. 119080.
