Comments: | Introduced in the early 1990s into Lake E?irdir, since they inhabit rivers and streams and prefer clean, well oxygenated water, the introductions were unsuccessful (Ref. 57271). 30 thousand fingerlings were imported from USA, but they all died. Southern Turkey is an ideal place for farming catfish but the first attempt was unsuccessful, probably, due to wrong raising techniques (Ref. 13686). Ref: FAO, 1997 |
