Definition of Term

species name
(English) According to the Code, (1) a scientific name of a taxon at the rank of species; (2) a binomen, the combination of a generic name and a specific name. (See also: species, Code, binominal name)

(French) Selon le Code, (1) le nom scientifique d'un taxon du rang d'espèce ; (2) un binôme, la combinaison d'un nom générique et d'un nom spécifique (un nom intercalé, tel qu'un nom subgénérique ou un nom intercalé du groupe-espèce, lorsqu'il est utilisé, n'est pas compté comme l'un des mots du binôme).
