Definition of Term

(English) A sample collected at a specific location and time; may contain several specimens. More specific, the entry of a sample in a fish collection or gene bank, normally recorded with accession date and name of the donator, also documentation of a fish collection, containing one to many specimens and species, with date of receipt, ownership, donor, etc.. (French) Un échantillon rassemblé d’une localité spécifique et pendant une période donnée ; peut contenir plusieurs spécimens. L'entrée d'un échantillon dans une collection du poisson ou banc du gène, normalement enregistré avec la date d’accession et le nom du donateur. (See also: passport data, collection)
(Portuguese) Uma amostragem acumulada duma localidade específica durante um certo período de tempo pode conter numerosas espécimens. A entrada duma amostra numa coleção de peixes deve conter o local da captura e o nome do dador. (See also: passport data, collection)
