| Source: | Observation during Scuba Dive | ||||
| Remark: | Melanistic varient of P. Volitans, Body Black with 4 faint Grey vertical stripes. Pectorals all Black each approx 1 cm wide. Pectoral span approx 30 cm. Appearence of a torn bin bag at a distance of 10 m. Swam toward it to pick it up and identified imeadiately. Observed for approx 30 seconds but lost in cloud of sand as other divers arrived and tried to feed it bread. I have dived in Dominican Republic for 5 years and have never before seen P.Volitans. This was by far the most Melanistic form I have ever observed anywhere. Further specimen seen 2 days later of the Airport Wall dive site Puerto Plata. This specimen was sligtly larger but exhibited the same Black colouration. | ||||
