Max. size:  9.3 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: confined to the Amazon River and its tributaries.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 2-2; Dorsal soft rays (total): 19-21; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 18-19. Lacks a prominent lateral line on head and body and with only a few scattered pores on head and body (Ref. 30721).
Biology:  Both opercular and dorsal glands are venomous (Ref. 57406).
