Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 6 - 7; dH range: 15
Distribution:  Central America: Pacific drainages of southern Costa Rica, Jicote and Rincon rivers and the Esquinas River of Osa Peninsula.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Aquarium specimens reach 7.0 cm TL (Ref. 2060). Inhabits creeks of low to high current velocity. Collected in sites between elevations of 10 to 80 m, insectivorous (Ref. 36880).

Country info:  Occurs in the Pacific drainages of southern Costa Rica, Jicote and Rincon rivers and the Esquinas River of Osa Peninsula (Ref. 38597). Type locality: Río Rincón drainage 2 km west of Rincón, Osa Peninsula, Quebrada Aguabuena, Puntarenas Prov., Costa Rica, elev. 30 m. (Ref. 26282).
