Family:  Salmonidae (Salmonids), subfamily: Salmoninae
Max. size:  64 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater, potamodromous
Distribution:  Asia: China.
Diagnosis:  Small cross-shaped spots scattered on sides of body and gill cover; maxilla bit longer than lower jaw; maxillae extending backwards beneath rear edge of eyes; pyloric caecum 65-120.
Biology:  Inhabits fast flowing streams with sandy and gravel substratum. Carnivorous; feeds on fishes, insects.

Country info:  Known from the upper reaches of the Minjiang River, Daduhe River, upper reaches of the Hanjiang River and Qingyijiang River (Ref. 33508). Collected from the upper reaches of Dadu River in Bama, Qinghai Province (Ref. 33800). Decline of resource due to: building of dams, hydropower stations, dredging of river beds for floating of logs and discharge of polluted water into rivers (Ref. 45563). Also Ref. 249, 31517, 45259, 45563. Status of threat: Endangered (Ref. 45563). Known from upper reaches of Banmalichang River of Maerke River in Qinghai Province(Ref.33800).
