Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 6.5 - 7.19999980926514, non-migratory
Distribution:  Africa: Sanaga, Nyong, Lobo, Ntem, Ivindo, Dja, Boumba and Doumé rivers in Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and northwestern Republic of Congo (Ref. 47461).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in swamps, swampy parts of shallow brooks and small streams under dark forest cover on the inland plains rainforest (Ref. 3788). Not a seasonal killifish. Is difficult to maintain in aquarium (Ref. 27139).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 16 February 2009 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Known from the upper Sanaga, Nyong, Ntem, Lobo, Dja, Boumé, Boumba and Ivindo drainage basins in southern Cameroon (Ref. 47461). Also recorded from the lower Ntem river basin (Ref. 27896). Subspecies A. c. haasi is only known from the type locality near Zomoko, in a tributary of the Amvéne River (Ref. 47461). Subspecies A. c. halleri occurs in a few quiet rainforest streams in the Ntem basin (Ref. 47461).Also Ref. 27139, 31267, 51193.
