Max. size:  30 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; brackish; pH range: 7.5; dH range: 10 - 23
Distribution:  Central America: Pacific slope of Mexico. Formerly established in California, USA but now has been extirpated.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits the lower river valley sections.

Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Known from the Rio Presidio to the Rio Grande de Santiago. Exported to North America as an aquarium fish (Ref. 4537). Also Ref. 3814.
