Family:  Procatopodidae (African lampeyes), subfamily: Procatopodinae
Max. size:  4 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 6.5 - 7.19999980926514, non-migratory
Distribution:  Africa: Ruvu, Great Ruaha, Kilombero, and lower Rufiji river drainage and delta; other smaller eastward flowing river drainages in eastern Tanzania.
Biology:  Found in small rivers, brooks, and shallow parts of river drainages (Ref. 3788). Not a seasonal killifish. Is difficult to maintain in aquarium (Ref. 27139).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 31 January 2006 Ref. (124695)
Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Kibiti, 140 km south of Dar es Salaam; Rufiji drainage, Selous Game Reserve; Mbezi River 50 km south of Dar es Salaam (Ref. 31267).
