Environment:  demersal; freshwater, potamodromous
Distribution:  Asia: Malay Peninsula, Sumatra and Borneo. Reports from the Mekong River basin are misidentifications of Belodontichthys truncatus.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 4-4; Anal soft rays: 85-96. Strongly compressed head and body. Upturned snout, profile concave above the eye. Dorsal small. Corner of mouth below eye level. Pectoral longer than head. Caudal fin with upper lobe slightly longer than lower lobe (Ref. 7050).

Country info:  Known from Sumatra and Borneo (Ref. 7050, 36654). Found in Batang Hari and Indragiri drainages in central Sumatra (Ref. 40801). Occurs in the Kapuas Lakes area in Kalimantan Barat, Borneo (Ref. 56749). Recorded from Danau Sentarum National Park in the Kapuas basin, Kalimantan Barat (Ref. 56749).
