Family:  Gobiesocidae (Clingfishes and singleslits), subfamily: Cheilobranchinae
Max. size:  12 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 0 - 10 m
Distribution:  Eastern Indian Ocean: southern Australia, from southern Western Australia to southern Queensland, including Tasmania.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 0-0; Anal soft rays: 0-0. Rays (7-8) present only in caudal fin. Pelvic fins tiny and vestigial sucking disk present. Color variable, from brown to green to orange, often bright; with or without spots or ocelli in series along sides.
Biology:  Intertidal and up to 10 m depth (Ref. 9002); found under rocks (Ref. 9002) and, reef and weed areas (Ref. 33839, 56640).
IUCN Red List Status: Not Evaluated (N.E.) Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Widespread in southern waters, ranging north to southern Queensland (Ref. 9002). Once common in Sydney but now rare north of Victoria (Ref. 9002). Very common in in Port Phillip and Western Port Bays (Ref. 9002).
