Max. size:  100 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 385 - 2200 m
Distribution:  Worldwide in tropical, subtropical and temperate waters (Ref. 33390).
Diagnosis:  Greyish black in color, darker on snout, throat and belly (Ref. 6591).
Biology:  Inhabits the lower continental slope (Ref. 4454).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 07 March 2011 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
