Max. size:  11 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 2 - 50 m
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: Red Sea and Japan. Reported from Papua New Guinea and the Great Barrier Reef (Ref. 9710). Introduced to the Mediterranean (Ref. 94612, 95871, 96570).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in coastal reefs, on sand or mud (Ref. 9710). Hovers near the entrance of burrows (Ref. 9710). Maximum depth reported taken from Ref. 127989.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 20 June 2017 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
