Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: Endemic to Lake Malawi. Occurs on the northern part of the lake.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Prefers sediment-free rocky habitats in shallow areas. Piscivore, feeds by ambushing its prey (Ref. 5595).
