| Diagnosis: | Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-10; Anal soft rays: 8-8. This species is distinguished from the other two congeners by the following characters: body completely naked; more posterior position of the anus, which is closer to the anal-fin origin than to the pelvic-fin origin (distance from anus to anal-fin origin 0.2-0.4 times in distance from pelvic-fin origin to anal-fin origin); color pattern mottled or prominent irregular dark brown or black midlateral stripe disconnected from blotches and saddles on back; and caudal fin slightly emarginated (Ref. 95092). Description: dorsal fin with 3 simple and 7 1/2 branched rays; anal fin with 3 simple and 5 1/2 branched rays; pectoral fin with 8-9 and pelvic fin with 5 branched rays (Ref. 95092). | |||
