Family:  Cichlidae (Cichlids), subfamily: Pseudocrenilabrinae
Max. size:  25 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: Lakes Tiberias and Muzairib in the Jordan system. Has apparently disappeared from Lake Hula.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Feeds on phytoplankton, higher plants and, to a lesser extent, zooplankton. Spawning season is from March to August and each specimen spawns at least 2-3 times during that period (Ref. 13609).
