Distribution:  Asia: China.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal soft rays: 5-5; Vertebrae: 43-43. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: body naked, scales absent, with skin pigmentation; eyes normal, diameter 7-15% of HL, interorbital width 24-32% of HL; dorsal fin distal margin truncated; pelvic-fin tip not reaching to anus; tip of pectoral fin not reaching to pelvic fin origin; anterior and posterior nostrils closely set, anterior nostril elongated to a barbel-like tip; tip of outrostral barbel extending backward to posterior margin of the eye; lateral line complete; dorsal-fin rays iv-9, pectoral-fin rays i-10, pelvic-fin rays ii-7, anal-fin rays iii-5, 16 branched caudal-fin rays; and total vertebrae 43 (Ref. 137681).
